Communications Specialist

Join our team and strengthen rural response to violence.

The Communications Specialist (CS) plays a vital role in advancing WCADVSA’s mission by strengthening communications, public engagement, and program visibility across Wyoming. This position works with other staff to support and promote the goals, objectives and activities of all WCADVSA grant programs. Through strategic content development, event and programmatic support, and collaborative initiatives, the CS enhances the organization’s capacity to reach both mainstream and traditionally underserved populations. The CS manages newsletters, website content, and public reports, while assisting in planning statewide events and campaigns that promote social change to end violence.

Key Responsibilities

·         Develop and manage communication plans and content across newsletters, websites, social media, and email to advance WCADVSA programs.

·         Create reports, press materials, and other content to highlight organizational impact and statewide initiatives.

·         Build and maintain relationships with media partners and key stakeholders to strengthen visibility and engagement.

·         Support statewide events and campaigns through promotional materials, photography, social media, and storytelling.

·         Track engagement metrics, analyze results, and adjust communications strategies to maximize impact.

 

·   Ensure activities align with funding goals, reporting requirements, and community accessibility.

• Develop sustainable communication systems that support program growth and long-term 

   organizational capacity.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social work, communication, nonprofit management, advocacy, or a related field.

·         Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience working with underserved and culturally specific populations, including rural and tribal communities.

·         Experience in trauma-informed care, culturally responsive programming, or community engagement.

·         Experience planning, developing, and implementing training programs or community initiatives.

·         Familiarity with Wyoming’s justice and social service systems related to DVSA.

·         Experience with grant reporting and compliance.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.
The role may be performed on-site in Laramie or remotely from anywhere in Wyoming (technology equipment provided; reliable internet required).
Travel up to 20% is required, with mileage, meals, and lodging covered.
