           Position Summary: The Counselor of the CFS, Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) provides clinical intakes, individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, and clinical case management services, using evidence-based practices for survivors of crime.

Location: Camden, NJ

Job Type/Status: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical intakes of new clients using a trauma-informed approach and identify service needs when appropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Provide assertive outreach and counseling by conducting visits (i.e. community or home visits as needed) tofurther, engage clients in TRC services.
  • Assists clients in applying for social security disability, Victims of Crime Compensation, and other financial entitlements. Assistance with U-Visas and psychological asylum as needed.
  • Provide presentations and workshops to community partners.
  • Assist the TRC team as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Promotes and provides cultural humility, client care and staff interactions that respond respectfully to the strengths and skills of diverse ethnicities and cultures, languages, socio-economic classes, disabilities, religions, genders, sexual orientation, and other diversity-related factors.
  • Clinical assessment of clients.
  •  Administration and scoring of standardized assessment tools if applicable.
  • In collaboration with the client, develop a service plan that includes long-term goals, short-term objectives, and interventions. Treatment plans are reviewed with the client to assess progress.
  • Provide clinical services using the modalities of individual, group, and psycho-education.
  • Adhere to goals, methods, and interventions specific to trauma counseling including a clinical case management approach. 
  • Facilitates coordination of services among various agencies, and advocates for and links clients to needed services.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision in accordance with the guidelines of their professional organization.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conference meetings, and agency-wide meetings.
  • Participate in staff training that may include TF-CBT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and other trauma-specific interventions.
  • Adhere to COA and CFS policies and procedures.
  • Complete the Level of Service as identified in the contract.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • MSW or MA in a related human services field.
  • Licensed (LCSW, LPC or MFT) preferred or license eligible. 
  • Knowledge in the area of trauma informed care, and adverse childhood experiences. 
  • Experience providing individual and group counseling. 
  • Clearly communicate ideas in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to connect with people of varying backgrounds, appreciate and embrace diversity, and maintain confidentiality. Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations, including young people of color, people who are homeless and/or chronically mentally ill, people from immigrant and refugee groups, and LGBTQ people.
  • Ability to work independently combined with the ability to be a team player.
  • Excellent documentation skills, ability to set priorities, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and personal skills.
  • Demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy.
  • Willing to work in a flexible and hybrid environment - office, telehealth, school and community settings.
  • Work a flexible schedule including evenings and may include some Saturdays.
  • People of color and people from marginalized communities are encouraged to apply. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of his/her residence, insurance, and clean driving record.
