Stumbled over this too:
What I learned playing prey to Windows scammers
http://www.infoworld.com/article/3091857/security/what-i-learned-playing-prey-to-windows-scammers.html
Readng this (NOT technical) you can, or I could see how people WOULD
fall for this. Particularly since the bad guys are SO PERSISTENT, and
are being "so helpful." Read how she was SO STRESSED that in some
cases, she did not turn on a computer for THREE DAYS after being
threatened. Even the Macs... And she is a computer professional,
learning and writing about computer issues all the time. Now you or
me as a civilian....
Read it to know "what may be coming" if you get such a call. And know
what to do HANG UP!
She was a "trained professional" on a closed course... and she got
antsy. How much of a chance do YOU or I have in such a situation.
HANG UP.
And share with those you know and particular those of a "certain age"
that might be sucked in faster than others. (Notice I said FASTER,
not that others were invincible. No one is invincible. The scammers
ARE out to get you!
