First one thing to be cautious about phone apps. Do you even take a
second glance at the permissions and stuff that an app says it "has to
have access" to on your phone? I do sometimes. Most folks it is like
an EULA on a computer program/app. Say yes and get on w/ it. And the
"bad guys" are writing apps with "hidden gems" that are trouble for
you Both the iPhone and Google App stores have some screening going
on. They are "relatively" safe and the high points. Now if you
download that cool app from someplace else... You are on your own
Kemosabe... Your phone goes wonky. Or suddenly slows. Start doing
some searching for tools that will detect bad stuff on your style
phone.
I found these two lists on Popular Mechanics. I figure there is some
confidence that these don't have bad stuff in them. I looked through
both. I happen to like the listings in the Android listing more than
the iPhone, but that might just be me. Some of the apps are listed in
both. The lists may have been made up by different people, so a cool
app in one, might not be in the other. Searching the App Store for
your style phone may find the same thing that is not on the list for
"your phone" but is on the list for the udder phone. Let your fingers
do the walking if you need too.
And now the list for Android:
