Sent: Thu, Nov 11, 2010 4:57:18 AM Dear all, There is one refugee family consisting of 3 young children and unemployed mom. They don't have any adult male in the house. Mom is physically unable to work. Their last two months house rent was paid by a church and one month txu bill was paid by the principle of kids school. They live in Ladera Palm Apartment. There are other families with similar stories. They are left by themselves after their case is closed by the Resettlement agencies. Agencies most important job is to make refugee families financially stable in the new country. If not, they were supposed to be linked to other resources available, such as, housing, disabilities etc. I am convinced that as social worker, our job is to deal with vulnerable situation like this rather than looking for the grants where donors already have their conditions: where, when, and who to spend money. I would like to appeal my fellow social organizations to come and join hands with me to resolve the problems which occur in the family like above. I am not interested anymore to support in writing proposals to the donors who can't reach to see the refrigerators of these poor refugees if they had anything for next breakfast.
