About Munirka

Munirka Slums are commonly referred to the slums lying between R.K. Puram and Munirka. These slums, consisting of hundreds of tiny houses compressed into a small area, are surrounded by posh houses in the urban Munirka and R.K. Puram. Despite having limited resources and small homes, the people here, especially the children, have big dreams and high hopes- that one day these slums will be no less than their surroundings- that every child would have access to education, that no diseases would be there, that there would no shortage of anything.  And they work hard for their dreams. NSS IITD is doing what it can to help these people fulfil their dreams. 

About The Project

We aim at uplifting the community by educating the next generation to make them a self-sustainable society. Along with education, we work on four main areas- moral education, sustainable teaching environment, activities & games, and cleanliness.

You will be a mentor, a teacher and most importantly a friend for the kids! You will guide those who lack good role models in their communities.

This project will provide you with a learning opportunity and a great social exposure. You will get a chance to interact with many people and bring positive impact to their lives.

• You would be guiding the kids through domains like education, healthcare, moral values etc.
• We will try to uplift the Munirka slums not just by imparting education but to instil in them the love for education so that they may excel in their future endeavours and also teach the younger kids.
• Extra-curricular activities and games are organized regularly to appreciate and enhance the talent of the kids here.
• You would get the opportunity to interact with kids and bring creativity in them.
• You will make someone's life better!
