About Safe Helmets Project:
1.5 lakh people died due to road accidents last year in India. Of these deaths, a large number of people could have been saved had they being wearing properly strapped helmets because more than 70% of the vehicles in India are 2-wheeler.
Hence, IRSC with the support from NSS IIT Delhi and AIIMS has decided to work on this issue by coming up with cheap and safe, light and self-strapping helmets which would be convenient for people to wear so that wearing helmets can become a tradition again and we can save many deaths every year. We would also be getting the mentor-ship of IRTE and Prof. Balram Bhargava, Executive Director,Stanford India Biodesign Centre.
