What's this about?
You must have heard of Arvind Gupta, the toymaker, and his easy-to-
make-from-trash toys. If you haven't, check out his website:
www.arvindguptatoys.com, now!
Well, we're throwing open the Toys from Trash Challenge for NSS
volunteers to repilicate these toys! We plan to hold an NSS Open House
mid-March, and there, we shall exhibit and sell these toys as a
fundraiser.
Sounds interesting. What can I do?
1. Replicate an Arvind Gupta toy: You can find thousands of ideas on
Arvind Gupta's website.
For any assistance on making the toys, you can approach Vishwanath
(9444357552/
vishw...@gmail.com)
2. Make a Document to Support it (Optional): This is optional. Make a
document explaining step by step how the toy is made. Something like a
lab report, but on a way more fun topic!
3. Do register yourself at
http://www.nss.iitm.ac.in/fcgi_files/extras/make_a_toy/
(needs login)
The link contains a list of toys. The link for the toy-making-
procedure is also given. This will help us keep track of who is
interested and how many toys of each type will get made.
4. Preferably submit it by March 31st: Submit your toys to Vishwanath
once they are ready. Do remember that the toys should look good, too!
Why should we do this, again?
Every good toy that is submitted gets 3 credits, and every associated
document gets 1 credit; and also, we have prizes for :
a. The Most Aesthetic Toy
b. The Sturdiest Toy
c. The Best Document
So, happy toy-making!

NSS Managerial Team
