Respected Faulty,Staff and Students,
It's indeed a great pleasure to inform you regarding our initiative of Weekly Institute Environment Talks; guest lectures or Green Technology workshops etc by distinguished professors, research scholars or experts at IIT Delhi.
Here we launch our first "weekly program" with a talk on “Understanding the Complexities of Water Issues” By Professor A.K. Gossain, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
The international community faces a major challenge in managing the water resources. Water, being the basic necessity for life must be utilized judiciously; its sources must be protected and conserved. This event aims to discuss the issues related to water which are prevalent in our society and the possible solutions for them. This year, 2013, is the UN International year for Water Cooperation. The objective of this International Year is to raise awareness, both on the potential for increased cooperation, and on the challenges facing water management in light of the increase in demand for water access, allocation and services.
