The current model of development is unable to create sufficient opportunities in our society, especially among the poor and rural regions. People are raising their voices to demand an alternate model of governance. Some feel that Swaraj is an effective model of governance while others feel that decentralization will have many unintended consequences too. 

Even those who agree over the concept of Swaraj differ at the extent of its practical applicability. A few villages in India have shown that decentralization works effectively when people realise their responsibilities but people still raise doubts on its feasibility as a nation-wide policy. 

Is the Gandhi's way of 'beginning from the bottom' an effective approach in modern times? What kind of challenges will we face if we follow it?

These are the questions which needs to be answered and Arvind Kejriwal would be there with us to answer them. The event will be moderated by Prof. Sanjeev Sanghi.

Arvind Kejriwal,a social activist turned politician who has done an intensive study on the Gram-Swaraj,a concept of realising village-self-sufficiency and autonomy and he also wrote a book "Swaraj - Power to the people".

Swaraj by Arvind Kejriwal shows us the way forward, what we the people and what the opinion makers and political establishment in India can do to achieve true Swaraj (self-rule). Arvind Kejriwal’s vision deserves consideration by anyone who wants power to vest with the people, not with netas.

The discussion will elucidate different aspects of Swaraj and emergence of "Swaraj" as a concept of Governance in the current Indian Politics.
