Tonight, 8:30pm, the world will 'switch-off' once again...| This Earth Hour, take a pledge to move beyond the 60 minutes!

Remember,
Earth Hour is not just about switching off lights every year for one hour. It is an year-long commitment into being more responsible to our planet, the Earth by saving electricity (thereby saving our natural resources and preventing unwanted GHG emissions into the atmosphere) and by switching to renewable sources of energy.

Here is what you can do:

• Switch off the lights and fans before leaving your hostel room.
• Always shut-down or hibernate your laptop when not in use. Never keep it in 'sleep' mode.
• Always unplug electronic devices when not in use.
• Switch off the corridor lights of your hostel if you see them on during day time.
• While sitting in library, ex-hall or block-rooms, only switch on those lights and fans that are directly over you instead of switching on lights of the entire room.
• If you find lights of any unoccupied room in the institute on, please take 5 minutes of you time to switch them off.
• Wear light, cotton clothes in summers to avoid excessive use of fans and ACs.
• Decrease the brightness of your laptop screen so that it uses lesser energy.
• And a lot more wherever you feel, there is an electricity/energy wastage.
