The next event planned is a visit to Government Children’s Home for Boys in Royapuram, on Feb 8th Saturday. We will have a 3 hour session from 2-5 pm there.

The idea is that the volunteers and other interested students from insti who register for the event spent time with the children there on Feb 8th, engaging them in some hands-on activities and games. 

This event was planned following a request from Gold Heart Foundation, who used to collect the DOS items(clothes, books etc.) from us. The Foundation conducts regular classes in the Boys home helping them with the school subjects. They wanted some of us, from insti (NSS) to go there once or twice a month and train the boys in non-acads stuff like origami, crafts and the like. Later after getting to know the boys there and their level of academic and non-academic standard, help the foundation in devising a an inclusive syllabus, which can supplement their regular coaching the next academic year.

What we hope, from the event, is that some of the students who will be part of the field visit will take an interest in the idea and take it forward. The visit is so that they get to know the residents there and thus plan the future sessions accordingly.

So it will be great if ideas can be suggested here for activities/games that we can engage the children for 3 hours on Fen 8th (these activities should help those going for the visit to get an idea about the residents, their interests and skills).
