Why is it expected of women to have selfess love or a sense of sacrifice? Why do we focus on appearance, not on intelligence? This tweet is loaded with such positive stereotypes: women are caring, nurturing, must be self sacrificing and selflessly loving. But do such stereotypes have the power to harm?

Come join us as we discuss these questions and unpack the issues surrounding positive stereotypes and benevolent sexism.

About Stree: Stree is an initiative of NSS IIT Delhi which aims to curb gender stereotypes via gender sensitization. We envisage a community free from incidents/happenings of sexual harassment by spreading awareness among all about the issue.
