You're help is needed at the Scottsdale City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 4th at 4:30 p.m
Now is the time and we are the people to get this done!
It is time we focused our collective energies on working together!
The fear based Center for Arizona Policy (CAP) has sent out an action alert to their members to block community efforts to secure Equality in Scottsdale. In their message, CAP writes: "On Tuesday, December 4, the Scottsdale City Council will consider creating a special legal status for homosexual behavior and gender-denying behavior, such as cross-dressing. The City will be saying that opposition to homosexual and "transgender" behavior is akin to discrimination and bigotry."
Tuesday's Scottsdale City Council vote will have an impact on you, whether or not you live in Scottsdale. Scottsdale's Mayor and City Council will be voting on an ordinance to block discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
This issue has received significant news coverage across the state and nation, and people from all over will be watching what happens on Tuesday, December 4th. Already, the Scottsdale Human Relations Commission and the Scottsdale Personnel Board have endorsed the proposed ordinance, urging city leaders to take steps to stop discrimination before it escalates into violence A favorable vote will not only add protections for Scottsdale residents, workers and visitors, it will send a resounding message across the state that anti-gay and anti-transgender discrimination and violence will no longer be accepted in Arizona.
Individually we have all been working for justice and equality in many different areas - together we are a well organized powerful movement of and by the people - it is time to demonstrate the industry of fear no longer is leading - WE ARE. In order to win this vote and secure Equality, we need your help. Please take action!
