From other neighborhood places:

Reminder: Picnic on the Patio continues

Northstreet is hosting their Picnic on the Patio event series every Tuesday evening April - October from 5-8pm (corner of North & Commercial). Shop local artists and vendors while enjoying good food and drink!

From the City of Madison:
BRT Survey

The City of Madison’s Transportation Department and Metro Transit are reaching out to neighborhood associations and Neighborhood Resource Teams (NRT) to provide information and invite input on the North-South Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. This initiative involves the reconfiguration of Metro’s Route B into a rapid transit line, similar to the current Route A that runs East and West, to improve transit service and efficiency in the greater Madison community.

Community meetings were held this past spring and we are directly reaching out for additional feedback through our community survey, North-South Bus Rapid Transit Preliminary Design Survey, which will remain open until July 25, 2025.

Ride the Drive - August 10th

Ride the DriveJoin the fun at Ride the Drive 2025 on Sunday, August 10. Portions of John Nolen Drive and Willy Street will be closed to vehicles, and three downtown area parks will come alive with all-ages activities, food and entertainment.

New Data in Neighborhood Indicators Project

The NIP is a partnership between the City of Madison and the UW-Madison Applied Population Lab. The project aims to track dozens of quality of life metrics over time to provide a better understanding of trends across Madison. The data is provided for free online for everyone to access and has been a useful tool for community-based organizations, non-profits and other public and private entities to identify areas of need and opportunities for support.

How do median household incomes vary across the City? Which parts of the City need better access to prenatal care? Which areas would benefit from more childcare providers? These are all questions that NIP data can help answer.

The 2024 NIP update includes several new metrics, including:

  • Community Safety and Disorder Police Calls
  • Median Rent
  • Areas of Limited English Proficiency
  • Alternative Transportation to Work

The 2024 NIP edition also marks the first year that users will be able to view indicator changes over time, following a switch to census geographies in 2022.

See their news release for more information.
