Hi neighbors,
We have been asked to share the following announcements about community happenings beyond NSNA. Text in italics is directly from the organizations themselves.
Subscribe to our Alder's Blog!
Our District 12 alder, Amani Latimer Burris, has a
blog that you can subscribe to. She shares updates from Common Council, including upcoming meetings of relevance or interest to folks in our district (which extends beyond our association's area). It's a great way to stay informed about things like city grants and activities, as well as common council & committee business.
Northside Action Team - Community Connection Potluck - February 23rd
From our neighbors on the North Side:
I'm reaching out on behalf of the Northside Action Team to spread the word about our first Community Connection Potluck, which will be hosted at Christ Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Feb 23, 4-6pm. This event is open to everyone, and we'd love it if you could help us invite members of the North Street Neighborhood Association. I've attached a flyer that you can send to your email list; anyone who is interested can sign up on the NAT website or with the QR code on the flyer.
To provide a little more background, the idea for these potlucks is to build community, learn about important issues from experts who are doing the work, and help people make connections if they want to get more involved. The first potluck will be focused on immigration in Dane County, with a presentation by the Community Immigration Law Center. We're planning to do similar events in the future, approximately every two months.

Bring signs and flags and yourself to raise your voice for people not Pentagon.
Demand cuts to wasteful military spending and use more funding to help the people: better education, healthcare, oversight.
The thousands of military bases, both foreign and domestic, around the world are a critical piece of the war machine that must be dismantled. Closing bases is a necessary step to shift the global security paradigm towards a demilitarized approach that centers common security — no one is safe until all are safe.

This year, nine courageous storytellers from our three-part workshop series will share stories of wellness that challenge harmful misconceptions about recovery, reduce stigma, and remind us all that no one is alone on their path.
Your presence at this event will amplify the power of these stories and the voices behind them. By attending Shared Threads, you will help us foster a #CommunityOfCare rooted in safety, understanding, and support.
As part of this special day, we invite you to support Chrysalis during The Big Share, an opportunity to make a collective impact through donations to organizations that champion social and environmental justice. Big or small, every contribution strengthens our ability to empower individuals on their recovery journeys.
How to Get Involved:
Attend: Join us in person or virtually by reserving your spot on Eventbrite (links above).
Donate: Support Chrysalis during The Big Share, happening all day on March 4, to help expand our programs that uplift underserved communities. Donate here: https://www.thebigshare.org/organizations/chrysalis
