I am currently in 4th Semester IT and recently spoke to a few third
year seniors about the GRE test. They suggested me to take the test
around the end of 5th semester or by February next year.
Can any senor please advice (based on their experience) when and with
how much preparation (some average I mean) should we give the GRE
test.
2)Regarding Projects:
Can some IT/CS senior talk about the kind of projects they worked upon
and under whom, when they were in second/third year. It will give me
(and others in general) some direction and in some way confirm to me
that I am headed in the right direction, cause if I not I should mend
my ways ASAP.
3)Regarding Interests:
Is it absolutely necessary to limit ourselves to a particular research
area at such a nascent stage? I see seniors always telling that they
have a very specific research interest. In my case I've found that I
can work and understand a lot of new ideas quite easily. Although I
would like to work on things related to AI, I haven't really had a
chance to work on some quality project in this field.
Also can some senior please talk about the future career aspects of
their area of research. What kind of work they do in that area and so
on and so forth. (I agree that most of this info can also be googled,
but its the perspective of an NSITian that I am looking for)
Also when one talks about a project what kind of level of details are
being talked about? Does it have to be truly a theoretical based
project or something absolutely new or can it even be implementation
of some idea in a paper. Of course we can (possibly) improve upon that
implementation by extending its application after we gain enough
knowledge. I am not sure if I am making sense in this para but I am
hoping your experience will make you understand what I am trying to
point at :)
Thanks,
