Dear Mr. Krishna:

I'm sorry that you were not accepted into our MSCS program. It was a
very competitive year. As always we had to turn away many very strong
applicants.

It isn't possible for me to respond to individual inquiries about
reasons for rejection because doing so would involve significant
investigation for each case, but some general points are:

* Most of our accepts and many of our rejects had near-perfect GPA's
from top schools.

* Most of our accepts and many of our rejects had perfect scores on
most or all of their GRE areas.

* Every folder of an accepted applicant was scrutinized carefully and
discussed by a committee of 16 people.

* By far the most important component of an application is extremely
strong recommendation letters from respected faculty vouching for
the applicant's promise as a grad student.

Again, I'm sorry you were not accepted, but it is very difficult to
gain entrance into our program.

I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors.
