If you haven't already done so, please take a few seconds to indicate your preferences.

Also for Thursday, we mentioned raffling a Nexus tablet. I assuming Mike is bringing the tablet and Sandy has the raffle tickets??

Thanks,
Al-Amin

I will be out of town for work, and will not be at the meeting this coming Thursday. Hope that you all have a productive time!

Btw, local and national dues are $90 (and not $40 as listed in the email to our list serve).

team,

I will be at meeting. I will be bringing the tablet and likely also 2 printers (New) in the box to give away. Yes, this is all out of my pocket and not the chapters but I will likely need a receipt Dre just for tax purposes at the end of the year. I will be playing the role of "Black Santa" in our effort to increase membership and membership engagement.

To Al's point who has the raffle tickets?

Dear Black Santa,

As long as the receipt doesn't have to be fancy, no problem.

Is someone taking care of food for tonight? Do we have a sense for how many folks are coming?

Thanks for bringing this back up Marie.  Mike and I are thinking we should postpone it to July since we couldn't get a larger EBoard attendance next weekend.

My current thinking is: 2nd Thursday of July (7/11) - along the pattern of our meetings.  Maybe we can try to make that an annual thing - July's "meeting" is the End of Year dinner.  Being in the city tends to get the larger attendance, but I know folks from out west have a painful commute, so I was thinking 7:30p - 9:30p. Hopefully the extra hour enables people to perhaps leave later from work and avoid some traffic.

As for restaurants, Sandy provided the great suggestion of going to a place with a fixed price menu.  Unfortunately, all the ones I've located are priced at more than what I think we should spend (e.g. Midwest Grill $22/per person for food only).  I'm hoping for a max of $20 a person, with about 25 attendees (paid members, plus old and new EBoards).

Recently I've been thinking we could do a popular chain restaurant that has reasonably priced entrees ($12 - $15) - e.g., PF Chang's.  Along the same lines, Royal East in Cambridge has a back room we could likely easily secure on a Thursday night.  Royal East is my current recommendation.

Alternatively, if weekend brunch times are okay, I came across a highly-rated Indian restaurant called Mela on Yelp.  They have a $12.95 brunch buffet.  Below are the links to the Yelp page and their menu:

Thoughts?  We really should converge on a final decision soon so we can make announcements.

BTW, kinda randomly, I was thinking Saturday September 7th for the Summer Sizzler (the Saturday after Labor Day - something else we might want to consider making an annual thing).  If that sounds good to everyone, we should lockdown the Arsenal mall/park spot.

Any objections, or feedback in general?

Dre,

july 2nd works for me. I like PF change as the option. inexpensive and diverse good food. We need to determine what amount we will kick in as a chapter to this effort. Might be useful for advertising.  Or we can order a bunch of food buffet style there and let it be almost like tappas and everybody shares everything. Drinks are personal responsibility etc.

Summer sizzler date is also fine with me. Makes sense to lock that date is as early as possible so that it can be put on a flyer and handed out at every event and mtg. Marie and team should start locking in the Fall dates as soon as possible so that we can get max attendance. Site leads need to vet our sites for next year t0o. Draper, BAE, and Microsoft.

I will send a doodle out in the evening to ascertain availabilities for the End of Year Dinner/Luncheon. I know we did PF Chang's before in Cambridge and that seemed fine. Not that I'm trying to plan beyond the Luncheon/Dinner event at this moment, but I thought we wanted to pull off the Summer Sizzler event in August to get that "sizzling weather"?

Regarding the Summer Sizzler date, I'm proposing a September date so that we can catch returning college students (especially new grad students), new professionals in the area, and reduce the chance of it being affected by summer travel.  BTW, summer technically ends on September 21st, so there would still be sizzle ;-)

Either way, feedback from all on the date is desired.

Second week in July is good for me. Summer sizzler I support either date- unlike later since the students can the participate.

I am cool with date for dinner.

Summer sizzler ...either date works. Early Sept is good for college peeps back in town.

I'm good with July 11 for the end of year dinner. And have no issues with the sept date either for the sizzler.

Al-Amin: it doesn't seem like you need to send out that doodle after-all. Sounds like we're all cool with that Thursday for the dinner.
