NSBE Constitution voting ballot packet

All,

 

I'm looking for ways to make sure we get the 2/3 vote we will need to change the chapter constitution. I'm planing on getting Sandy and Gladys' help to email out the proposed constitution and voting ballot to all our paid member list. Please take a look at the attached constitution voting ballot packet, and make corrections/suggestions as you see fit (this include grammar and spelling changes). Please send your feedback soon because I would like to get this out by Monday if possible. We can discuss this out in more details in the conference call tonight.

 

I already know Andre, will be making a few minor changes to the document, so Andre when you're finish please make sure your edited copy is on the google drive for everyone else to access.

Or

2/3 vote of paid members whether they are at the mtg or not?

Thanks Marie, I've been looking into this exact question. Until I can find out the exact answer, I'm planning for 2/3 of paid memebers at the meeting or not.

 

Mike and all, you have any insite?

I don't think that's realistic. 

Few organizations that I'm aware of do that. I would rather you lean towards 2/3 of members present. There's no way to guarantee that 2/3 of the membership will even be present.

We probably should discuss this more during the call tonight because I went back to take a look, the current constitution call out for members who are present at the regular meeting. The By-laws require all paid members in order to make a change. The change we're proposing is to both document. I'm with you Marie, members present is, I think, the best way to go about the changes we would like to make. 

 

What ever way we decided on the call tonight, I still want all our paid members to feel included in the chapter descisions, so I think we should continue with plans to send out packets to all paid members.  Note, the current constitution does not mention anything about absentee ballots... is that something we should think about adding in the propose constitution for the future?

It has to be 2/3 members present because folks are not guaranteed to who up and if we didn't get quorum elections couldn't happen. That would be bad.

I think the packet should go out to the entire mailing list. I want to make sure that we have as many people show up as possible. this could be a way for us to get more attendance. I really want to help push committees next year to get more people involved. I want folks who come to meeting to have a vested stake so they can invite their friends to join as well and see what they are doing. I think that is a strategy to help increase membership engagement and that is still an area where we struggle.  No need to limit who gets the packet. Send it to everyone on the list and encourage them to join us at the meeting and run. We can collect dues at elections for the upcoming year. 

Matter of fact say if we get more than 25 paid member at elections we will be doing a drawing to win a 7" galaxy nexus tablet. Tablet will be drawn right after elections. (all PAID members are eligible to win). You can sign up on the spot for Local and National dues.
