Hi everyone,

 

My name is Wayne and I’m the President of the Basketball Club. 

 

Firstly, thank you for signing up to the club & welcome to UNSW.

 

Secondly, on behalf of my and the other committee members we hope the club and its facilities can offer you what you need regarding social basketball or relatively competitive scrimmages. We also have a few social/fundraising evenings planned for all members to raise money for the club.

 

Annual Membership fee for all UNSW students is $50. This allows you to partake any of the following scrimmages/internal competitions. All sessions are held @the unigym bball courts.

 

SESSIONS:

TUES 5-7pm: Open scrimmage (mixed) until the end of March. Internal Social Comp April till end of semester. See below.

 

WED 8-9pm: Possibility of a beginner’s session (mixed). Depending on member interest and coach availability.

 

SAT 10-1pm: Open scrimmage (mixed) fairly competitive, includes many ex-UNSW students.

 

Internal Social Competition:

The Social Comp will have team registration on Tuesday 29^th March from 5-7pm. On this night you will have to pay your club membership ($50, if you have not already) and either a $40 OR $30 fee for social comp ($40 includes a UNSW reversible singlet, $30 doesn’t include singlet). You can be put into a team on the night or come with your own team. Depending on interest we are hoping to have a competitive division as well as a social/mixed division.

 

External Competition:

We have women’s & men's teams from Div 1 to Div 6 that train & play once a week. I do not recommend any international members take part in this external comp as the fees are quite high, but local members should get involved. The stadium where games take place is in Alexandria, 15min bus ride from UNSW. The next comp begins in May so trials for teams will commence in April.

 

Playing in this external competition requires not only the club membership ($50) but also additional costs including:

1. BBALLNSW Bball Registration = $120/year
2. UNSW Team Comp fees = $100/comp

3. UNSW reversible jersey = $40

 

University Games 2011:

There will be a separate email in coming weeks regarding uni games. EUG’s in Canberra July 3^rd – 5^th, AUG’s in Gold Coast Sept 25^th – 30^th.
