How to install gcc-4.8 and g++-4.8

install gcc-4.8 and g++-4.8

open the file using sudo mode

$] sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Include the following line

deb http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic main universe

$] sudo apt update

$] sudo apt install gcc-4.8 g++-4.8

Hi.

ns2 requires gcc version 4.6 .... 5.x no PIE. The later Ubuntu gcc 5.4 .. 5.5 are built with "PIE" and are not usable for ns2.

Download .... and install :

$ sudo gdebi Downloads/gcc48-c++_4.8.4-2ubuntu14_amd64.deb
Provides /usr/local/bin/{gcc48, g++48}

... i.e. the ns2 build command is then ...

$ export CC=gcc48 CXX=g++48 && ./install
