Hello,

I'm working on a wired network simulation and i'm wondering is it possible to activate DV routing ($ns  rtproto DV) when a link congestion or packet loss occurs at a certain node, so it can redirect the traffic ? I know "$ns rtproto DV " works when a link goes down, it redirects the traffic to another path in order to reach the final destination. But in the situation of congestion/packet loss, is it possible to use it? If yes, how?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

No, you cannot activate DV when a congestion happens. This is because the DV algorithm wasn't initially designed to do so.

You have to work out with theory first - that how you will make DV *congestion-aware*. After that you can try implementing it.

Hope it helps.
