A single individual perched in a deciduous tree at water's edge.  Rather plump given winter conditions but with small, rounded head, small dark bill, prominent white eye ring, buffy wing markings and a pale, unmarked breast seen before the bird flew up to a higher branch with its back to me.  Dark tail tip visible. Photos.  Englishtown Hall, Victoria Co., Dec. 30, 2021 at approximately 12:55 p.m.

That is a Townsend's Solitaire.  Nice bird. Can it be relocated? Directions from Englishtown Ferry

Sorry Mark, for being so long to reply.  A busy time of year.

I did the same route this morning but did not see the Townsend's.  But that, of course, doesn't mean it isn't around.  I saw it in a deciduous tree down near the water to the right of the Englishtown Hall as you are facing it from the road, at the bottom of the hill and across from the Post Office.  I searched all around there as well as several properties across the road that have suitable habitat, with no success.  Good luck to you if you do go in search of the bird.

Thank you, it could still be around.  Unfortunately I'm in Toronto but I was asking for my brother who is on the Cape Trail near Little River and is a bit of a regular at the Englishtown post office.

Are you Paul's brother?  As you are aware, Paul is very well known around here and possibly much farther abroad as there are avid fiddlers everywhere!  I had no idea Paul is a birder!

Yes, please do pass on the coordinates.  He will know exactly where to look for it!
