Good Morning Janet,

Spring is in the air and Truro Middle School is getting ready to host our 2nd Annual Earth Day Event. Last year was a huge success and we are looking to be even bigger this year.  This event partners with environmental organizations around our region that can provide a hands-on learning station to help students learn about environmental issues, choices they can make and actions they can take that create positive outcomes for a sustainable future. We would love for your organization to be part of this special day.

All our students will participate in the day. Each grade will come for an hour at a time to explore all the stations and activities which means you will have a steady flow of small groups to interact with. There will be some specialized activities that will be by sign -up and happen at specific times like an Atlatl demonstration, guided hike, gardening, and water walk ceremony. We have lots of space in the gym to set up stations, the school connects to Victoria Park hiking and biking trails, and there is lots of outdoor spaces that can be used. Let us know what would work best for you.

This year’s keynote speaker is Elder Gerald Gloade. He will address the entire school from 9:30 -10 and then students begin to arrive at stations.

Students return to class at 2:30 and presenters can start to pack up. From 2:30 to 3:15 we broadcast the gameshow “Who wants to be an Emvirochampionaire” where students get to be on the hot seat to compete for prizes by answering trivia based on what was being taught throughout the day. The Show happens in the library and is live streamed to all the classrooms. Any donations of swag that could be used for prizes would be super appreciated😊

We hope that your organization would like to participate with us in some way this year. We also encourage you to pass along the invite to any other people or organizations that you think might like to be involved.

Thank-you for your consideration and all the important work you do every day. If you would like more information or have any questions I am happy to help.

Have a wonderful day,
