Hello,

We are pleased to announce the public release of a new, open-source ns-3 3D visualizer, the NetSimulyzer. The application and its corresponding ns-3 module may be found on GitHub. Both are required to visualize an ns-3 scenario.

•             Application:  https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer (also listed in the ns-3 app store: https://apps.nsnam.org/app/netsimulyzer)

•             ns-3 Module: https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer-ns3-module

Prebuilt versions of the application for Windows may be found under the 'Releases' tab: https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer/releases. The application comes with a selection of pre-run examples (or in the Examples files under the releases tab) if you want to see the NetSimulyzer in action without integrating the module. If you are looking to try it out with ns-3, see the 'Feature Overview' in the README (https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer-ns3-module#feature-overview) and the 'Quickstart' section of the manual (https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer-ns3-module/blob/master/doc/source/quickstart.rst).

The NetSimulyzer is not only displaying ns-3 topology features (i.e., Nodes & Buildings), but it also includes other features to support scenario understanding. Some of these include:

•             Custom plots which may be connected to arbitrary ns-3 traces

•             Helpers for tracking common metrics (Throughput & Model State)

•             Marked areas

•             A Coordinate grind aligning with ns-3's coordinate system

•             A logging system

•             Configurable playback

•             Eight bundled 3D models with configurable colors and sizes

If you have any feedback or requests for features, submit an issue on GitHub here:

•             Application: https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer/issues/new

•             ns-3 Module: https://github.com/usnistgov/NetSimulyzer-ns3-module/issues/new

You can also see our plans for future releases by looking through the issue lists for each project.

Thank you for your time. I hope the NetSimulyzer is helpful to you,

Evan
