Simple CSMA/CA for AdHoc Wireless Network

Is there a guide or any resources on how to implement basic csma/ca for a basic adhoc wireless topology scenario? Or just a better/more focused guide/examples for adhoc wifi?

Mostly how to do simple csma/ca...the examples/wireless/wifi-simple-adhoc.cc is helpful

For more clarification, how can I abstract away a lot of the additional 802.11 WiFi baggage beyond csma/ca? I want to generate/route (OLSR) traffic on a wireless medium with a variable radio parameters, not be strictly held to the wifi radio models.
