Hello,
I am pursuing doctorate in Satellite LTE simulation. I have been using LTE-Sim for sometime now and have good statistics collected for the terrestrial LTE case. LTE-Sim is able to generate plots for parameters like throughput, delay, packet loss ration, spectral efficiency etc..
Can someone let me know how to run the LTE simulations like in LTE-Sim and get plots similar to that of LTE-Sim so that I can verify the results are indeed correct.
Next, I would like to customize the LTE environment for simulating a satellite environment like a Satellite LTE. Both GEO environment and LEO environment to be tried and generate similar metrics plots.
Quite some time ago I tried using NS-3 for LTE environment but could not get results, did not go to plot level.
I see some satellite environment has been implemented in NS-2 but not in NS-3.
Has someone done some customization, porting of satellite environment to NS-3? Or should it be taken up as a new effort?
Wish to hear from experts. I shall be happy to share my outputs and plots I have generated, so far

thanks,
S.Radhakrishnan

Dear S.Radhakrishnan,

Let's take one issue at a time.

-- The simulation outputs from LTE module in NS-3 are explained here https://www.nsnam.org/docs/models/html/lte-user.html#simulation-output
These are ASCII text files that you can then post-process to generate plots using any tool that you are familiar (from scripting to even MS Excel)
If you want to generate plots within NS-3 you can use the GnuPlot Class (https://www.nsnam.org/docs/manual/html/gnuplot.html
Please study the documentation for more information.

-- Satellite in NS-3 has been developed but it is not part of the main ns-3 release. It is provided by a company here http://satellite-ns3.com/
You can contact them and ask for the code and in the future any help.

Regards
K.

Thank you Konstantinos.
I have sent a request to those satellite people asking for more information.
I shall run the simulations and request your help as needed.

thanks,
S.Radhakrishnan

I did not get any reply from the GNSS team. Can I Korequest nstantinos and Tommaso to check the status with the company about the progress in their development. Some basic code to start testing would do and I shall be happy to do some work from my side to carry the development/ testing, if required.

Konstantinos,

Can you please answer this?

My testing scenarios are the following
VOIP, Video, CBR, Infinite buffer packets continuously fed, either individually or in combination. Changing the number of users from 5 to 100 and I should be able to derive metrics like

Delay, throughput, jitter, packet loss, spectral efficiency, any more you can suggest?
I need to match all these for the different schedulers for the various numbers of users from 5 to 100 in steps of 5 or 10. I need to match these plots with that derived from LTE-Sim. Please advise.
I have to introduce the GEO and LEO satellite modules for performing these tests further which I am still not successful.

thanks,
S.Radhakrishnan
