Hi All,
I am new to NS-3 and is interested in studying further on how NS-3 can be used as a LTE network simulator.
I need help in understanding how to enable pcap message level tracing for the UE<--->eNodeB interface. The purpose is to capture and decode the messaging between the two entities (UE <---> eNODEB).
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
Thanks !!
Cheers ... Anoop

Hi Anoop,
PCAP tracing of RRC messages is currently not supported, thoug it could be added with a minimum of effort. Patches welcome!
Regards,
Nicola

Hi Nicola,
Thanks for the confirmation. Any pointers on how to get started with adding PCAP tracing capability for LTE RRC messages?
Cheers ... Anoop

Hi Anoop,
I suggest to have a look at how other devices (csma, wifi) setup the PCAP output trace. Once you get it, you'll just have to dump the entire RRC packet on the output trace.

I am also new to ns3.Trying to capture the Ue-EnodeB RRC messages.Through your discussion here, came to know that capturing rrc message is not supported. But I found one link where RRC messages are captured in wireshark

Indeed, if you add the possibility to dump RRC packets on a pcap file, as I described in the previous posts, then you'll be able to see those packets in wireshark.
