improving wifi handover to consider APs in different channels

Hello,
I want to know if the basic handoff process that is implemented in NS-3 has been improved to take into account the Beacons scanning and association with the nearby APs that are operating on different channels.
If it is not considered, i am interesting to improve this Algorithm. I think the related code is implemented in the StaWifiMac, ApWifiMac and WifiMacHeader classes, right ?
