Hi,
I need to implement and simulate a routing algorithm for underwater
acoustic sensor networks. Than compare it with other algorithm.
There are two alternatives in my mind, I will either use Aquasim
which is a patch on ns-2.30 or ns3 UAN module. I prefer ns3 which is
more promising and open to development, since I want to continue
working with underwater acoustic sensor networks in my MS thesis
where I will most probably implement and compare 3 common MAC
protocols for underwater acoustic sensor networks.( I also
want to be a contributer to ns3 while working on my ms thesis.)
But, I am confused.
Aquasim seems has no more support and not enough documentation. Also
it seems to have no future, no more than a patch. But offers ns2
classes, directed diffussion for example.
Ns3 seems attractive, new and promising. But it is still under
development, I feel it might have missing parts that I can easily
have in ns2(Aquasim).
My questions are,
How hard will be to implement and simulate a routing algorithm for
underwater acoustic sensor networks with UAN module? I could not see
anything related to routing in the source files of UAN module.
Does UAN module provides APIs for simulating underwater acoustic
sensor networks, (no AUVs, just nodes) ?
Thanks and regards.
