Hi,

don't be lazy and read the tutorial and manual. Plus, try to read (and understand) the examples.
I can guess (and to some extent understand) that you're in a hurry for some project and you really can't care less to learn a simulation system just to produce some results for an assignment, but it' your job. If we do it, it would be our job, not your. You'd not learn anything and we'd not get paid for it.

Have fun studying the tutorial,

T.

Hi,

I am reading the manual and also the tutorials , I was having some problem in few topics and onemorething I don't have any project or assignment to do it , I am just learning it.I thought of making this small lte concept but I was missing some concepts. This was the reason I asked .It would be good if you are willing to teach me.

Hi,

the output should be in the ns-3 directory, in these files:
  • DlMacStats.txt
  • DlRlcStats.txt
  • DlRsrpSinrStats.txt
  • DlRxPhyStats.txt
  • DlTxPhyStats.txt
  • UlInterferenceStats.txt
  • UlMacStats.txt
  • UlRlcStats.txt
  • UlRxPhyStats.txt
  • UlSinrStats.txt
  • UlTxPhyStats.txt
  • DlPdcpStats.txt
  • UlPdcpStats.txt
Please see the LTE module documentation for a full explanation on the content of each file.

Hello Sir,

What pre-requisites I have to learn before I start simulating things in ns3. Because I am signal processing student. I want to learn this concepts for my future work. So can you guide me what steps I have to take in.order to achieve in this field.

Thanks

Hemanth

Hi,

no prerequisite for real. Study the tutorial. If you have issues with the code syntax, grab a good C++ book, possibly one explaining also the design pattern principles.

Have fun studying,

when I run the lte example programs . it shows build is successfull. But I did not get any output. for ex : I run lena-cqi-threshold.cc program when i run this program it showed ,it was built successfully and creates two text files rlc trace and mac text file . Is this the desired output??. How to look this output in Netanim. ? How to plot graphs?

Yes, not all the programs have an ouput on the screen. Most of them write the simulation output on files (because it's easier to use them later on).

How to look this output in Netanim. ?

You don't. NetAnim uses specific .xml files, and these are generated by a specific call in the program. See the NetAnim examples and/or the examples using NetAnim, you'll recognize them because there's a "AnimationInterface" object. One useful example is "examples/wireless/mixed-wireless.cc".

How to plot graphs?

It depends on the data that have been saved to file *and* on the program you want to use to plot these data. There's no specific rule or universal guideline.
The ns-3 supports gnuplot, meaning that it can output some data in a gnuplot-ready format, but you can use whatever tool you like.

Pcap files are opened with wireshark. I don’t know any way to directly import NS3 text files in Excel. You need to write some script that takes those files, processes them and creates .CSV files than can be imported it into excel.

Hi,

if you use Google (or any other search engine) and you search for "Wireshark" you'll find enough infos to keep you busy for weeks. Just look for the download ones (it should be one of the first results).
About the text file, why don't you try to open it ? Usually there's some data and, with a bit of scavenging, one can also find out what they mean. E.g., try reading the code, or the module's documentation.

Summarizing, feel free to ask for help, but fist try to do it by yourself. You'll find extraordinarily fulfilling to be able to do something all by yourself !

Have fun,

T.
