Radio Bearer Configure in NR

Dear Community,

I have implemented Real RRC protocol in NR. But it throws an "out_of_range exception". From the debugger, I was able to see that it was happening when BwpManagerUe object implements DoReportBufferStatus(params) function. After more careful observation, I could see that m_lcToBearerMap was not configured at all. I checked the size of the map which is zero. Later I found out in DoConfigureSignalBearer() function following comments:

// Ignore signaling bearers for the moment. These are for an advanced use.

// m_lcToBearerMap.insert (std::make_pair (lcId, EpsBearer::FromPriority (lcConfig.priority).qci));

From my understanding, I need to configure radio bearers to make it work. In fact, I tried commenting out, but that did not work as there is not FromPriority function.

Can anybody help me to resolve this? Thanks!

Hi Shabad,

we (the OpenSim research group at CTTC) worked on RRC real one year ago. We planned to create an MR toward NR as soon as we have time for it. I will check when this could be. It would be good if we would sync our efforts. You could maybe drop us an email (https://5g-lena.cttc.es/download/). Also, you can join to 5G-LENA users group. 

Regarding the issue that you found, I don't remember having that issue...

Hi Biljana,

Good to hear from you. I am putting a join request for that group. 

Also, did you mean Major Release by 'MR towards NR'? If yes, will it also contain gNB handover in NR? Basically I am currently working on it, and as a part of this, I wanted to implement real RRC protocol which has not been solved yet. I believe this is not in the latest version of NR release.

Hi Shabad, 

No, any of this work on RRC is not yet in the latest NR release. 

By MR, I was referring to the Merge Request towards NR. But yes, in some way it will be "major" because it contains a lot of changes/additions to the NR module. However, we did not include the handover implementation. The objective was to have a solid base for the RRC (initial access/RACH), well tested which would be later extended with the handover, and some other RRC functionalities. I noticed that in the 5G-LENA users group, there is a 5G-LENA user that progressed a lot with the handover.
