How to install tracemetrics for .tr files in Ubuntu 12.04

I am using ns3.20 in Ubuntu. I am geting .tr files as output and i want to plot those trace files in tracemetrics.
Could you please tell me how to install the tracemetrics software in Ubuntu 12.04 ?

tracemetrics has its own user manual describing how it can be used. 

It is just a Java pre-compiled program and as such, it does not require installation.

just call 

$ java -jar TraceMetrics.jar&

What type of error? Is it the same as above? Have you checked that you have the JAR file in the folder you are trying to call the java -jar?

I have attached a file here. I have downloaded this .zip file which contains one .jar file and one folder. Did i download the correct .zip file?  If yes, then after that what i will do. I am using Ubuntu 12.04. Please suggest me the way. Thank you in advance.

I can't download the file you attached, don't know why but if you have downloaded it from here (http://www.tracemetrics.net/download/) then it should be ok.

After you extract it, you see the .jar file. You call the command I have already said 3 times and is specified in the tracemetric tutorial as well "java -jar <path/to/trace/metric/>

Also, as the website suggests, you need to have Java 7 (http://www.tracemetrics.net/2012/12/19/new-version-released-1-3-0/)

Please do the following and copy-paste the output.

$ ls -l
[output]

$ pwd
[output]

$ java -version
[output]

$ java -jar tracemetrics.jar
[output]

MIND. The last instruction MAY suddenly open TraceMetrics. If this happens, please let us know and accept my humble apologies.

Thank you Konstantinos and Tommaso, atlast i have updated the oracle java to version 7 and now the tracemetrics is opened according to your command. Now everything is ok, if there is any problem in tracemetrics, then i will ask for your help. Thank you again.
