Hello everyone,

I am trying to incorporate UE association with LTE based on best SINR from the nearby eNodeBs (given a tri-sectored antenna deployment in clove leaf pattern).

As per NS-3 literature, UE attachments with LTE is made based on factors like UE position, sector information, distance from eNodeB etc.

To perform SINR based attachment, the approach which I have tried is :
  •   Iteratively attach the UEs with ENBs from the relevant Macrocell and check the corresponding SINR w.r.t each UE(using callback functions).
  •   Finally choose the eNodeB giving the best SINR and attach the UE to that eNodeB.

Problem: This way of attaching an UE to different eNodeBs iteratively to check SINR seems impractical from coding perspective.
Also the computation process takes a lot of time.

Is there any alternative/smarter way to do SINR based association?

It would be of great help if anyone shares his/her ideas.

Kind Regards
Arijit

Hi,

I'd suggest to check what the LTE standard say about this. There are two alternatives:
1) you're implementing a standard procedure -> refer to the standard
2) you're trying a new thing -> no matter how impractical is, try it. Then see if the benefit is worth the hassle.

Cheers,

Hi there,

as far as I know (in fact Budiarto replied to me here -> https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/ns-3-users/attachment$20to$20one$20sector/ns-3-users/u6g2ge2WRP8/kADldJwUx_YJ ) SINR based attachment is not possible.

you can use automatic attachment (refer to -> http://www.nsnam.org/docs/release/3.19/models/singlehtml/index.html#sec-network-attachment ) to attach UE to highest RSRP, tho you need to activate EPC for this.

hope this helps,

regards

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

It was really helpful.

But, the point is :
The factors like Fading (Slow, Fast) and shadowing scenario may be different for different sectors in a Macrocell.
So, may be in the upcoming releases of ns3 we can see some inherent functions for UE-eNodeB association based on SINR.
