Hi all,

I have no experience on network simulator neither NS-2 and NS-3.
My simulation is to make a connection on mobile node in heterogeneous network including 3G (CDMA, HSPA), DSRC and WiFi to transfer data packets.
From the official website, I found that NS-3 supports multi-interface on the same node, DSRC module and WiFi but I could not find CDMA, HSPA especially with RRC extension (on control plane) module.
My objective is to send data via any of the mentioned networks. Could anybody here give me a hint to start the simulations? I have already learnt NS-3 by the provided tutorial and get some main concept.
It seems not many researchers using NS-3 so far. The tutorial materials are rarely found either.
Should I try to find the existing module that might already provide what I need in NS-2.

Thank you.

ns-3 has no 3G module. For ns-2 there was EURANE, but because of ns-2 limitations you would not be able to use it in heterogeneous networks. There is a port of EURANE for ns-miracle that can be used for heterogeneous networks, but this is UMTS Release '99 only (no HSPA). So neither ns-3 nor ns-2 will satisfy your requirements completely; you'll have to do some development yourself. Because of this, I would suggest you to use ns-3 instead of ns-2.

Thank you Nicola for your confirmation. I would use UMTS R.99 instead of HSPA by using ns2-Miracle for starting simulations in the beginning phase.

Hi Nicola

I want to simulate HSPA systems using ns3. As you mentioned, there exists NO 3G/3.5G Module in ns3. Will you kindly suggest me some idea how to do HSPA simulations in ns3? For the time being, is it better to drop the idea of using ns3 particularly for HSPA? Eagerly waiting your reply. Thanks.
