Hi, I just installed NS3 and would like to use Eclipse IDE to write the codes and debug. Somehow, according to what has been suggested on web, it requires the installation of mercurialeclipse. I had tried to add http://cbes.javaforge.com/update but it reported error. It seems that's due to the version of Eclipse IDE is too new. I tried to install some older version of Eclipse IDE but it reported error in creating the workspace as the workspace of NS3 folders requires newer version.

I am kinda of stuck here. Apparently I don't want to modify/write codes using a plain editor. Could anybody suggest a workable IDE for NS3 in Ubuntu 18.04 ?

Thanks a million in advance,

Best,

J.

Hello Chen,

If you install eclipse newer version i don' think so you need to configure mercurialeclipse. I tried to install the new Eclipse and it successfully build NS-3 on it. Are you sure you configure your NS-3 correctly ? Please find the attached screenshot, which might be helpful to configure.

Please create a new project with C++ and browse to your NS-3 folder. Then click on the project and right click on it and go to properties and make the necessary changes shown in screenshots. I hope this helps.

After doing that Please configure External Tool configuration (you can do that by going to Run->External Tools->External Tool Configuration).

Apply necessary changes and all done.

With Regards,

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your instruction.

Somehow, when I right clicked the project name and the properties, the window did not  show 'C/C++ Build'. I could not locate the 'C/C++ Build' anywhere in the IDE environment. The version is  Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers 2019-09R (4.13.0) 20190917-1200.

Please kindly find attached the screenshot.

Please kindly let me know if you have any idea how to tackle the issue.

Thanks a million in advance,

Best,

Jie
