Hello,
Please can you suggest for me software to use to analysis .tr files generated by ns3. I installed wireshark, but it could only open the .pcap files.
Thanks in advance.

You can use http://www.tracemetrics.net/ or create a custom script in any language such as python, awk

Hello,
I checked and saw that it is for versions up to ns-3.14, but I am using ns-3.16. Thanks.

I do not think that the trace format has changed between these two versions.
You could try it.

Hello,
I tried to install it from terminal (in the directory on the desktop that I had put it) using ant build.xml but it failed saying:
Buildfile: build.xml does not exist!
Build failed

You do not need to build it (unless you change something in the code), you can just use the jar file (pre-compiled).

I'm so sorry to still not be able to get it installed. I have tried several options, but to no avail yet. I don't understand what is happening. Can you please give me step-by-step guide to install it. I have already downloaded the jar file from sourceforge. Thanks.

The jar file is a pre-compiled software. You just run it. No need to install anything.
Either by double-clicking on it or by command line "java -jar <filename.jar>"

Hello,
I have done that at command line before, but it reported:
Invalid or corrupt jarfile tracemetrics-1.3.0
I had also copied the trace file to my windows 7 machine, click on the file, the tracemetrics opened but when I clicked Execute analysis, it showed nothing. What do you think is the problem please? Thanks.

Don't know. You should contact the developers of that tool.
