Hey

Does anyone have any good mobility models that can be used for Vanet simulations in ns3? I have seen some mobility models that can be used with ns2 (Translite) but couldn't find any for ns3. Any help in this regard would be great.

I know there is one [0] up for code review, but it seems like it's being kept private for now. Maybe you could try to contact the developers behind it?

Translite generated mobility models for NS2 can be used by NS3 (>=3.9) - See Ns2MobilityHelper in NS3.

Since VANET models are not readily available (I have yet to check the Translite to ns3 conversion), if I were to implement vehicular traffic on my own, what is the ideal function to simulate the mobility of nodes. I do not want to have any random movement - ideally trying to simulate movement on a straight "road" for example. And I would also like to change the direction and velocity of a particular node depending on external conditions. For these purposes, what would the ideal class or function to use?

Sumo + Translite => NS2/NS3 should be realistic. SUMO generates the vehicle scenarios (every road is a line there) while Translite just converts it to NS2/NS3 mobility files.

I didn't really look for implementing vehicular traffic on my own since so many good models are already there.

I'm looking into that actually.

But I was also wondering, from the core NS3 simulator itself, what is the preferred method to simulate wireless nodes moving in a constrained fashion? I just want to test out my code for 3-4 nodes, but was not able to get them to move! I'm unable to use the constant velocity mobility model as I am getting some weird errors. Any example on how to implement this in the code?
