I have no previous knowledge ns. Does ns3 support Cognitive radio
simulations or should start with ns2.
I have to learn both from scratch, which one is better option for me?

Hi Ehsan,
Cognitive Radio means all and nothing: what are you looking for
exactly? wifi over TV white spaces? IEEE 802.22?
Anyway, to my knowledge, neither ns-2 nor ns-3 support any of these
technologies explicitly. You'll have to do some development to achieve
what you want.

That said, my suggestion is to go for ns-3, as it is better designed
and better maintained than ns-2. For Cognitive Radio / Dynamic
Spectrum Access stuff, you might find ns-3's spectrum module useful,
some information about it is provided here:
http://iptechwiki.cttc.es/Ns3_Spectrum

Hello,
I will be working on IEEE 802.22 using NS-3 and I wanted to know if NS-3 comes with a module supporting this technology.

There is currently no IEEE 802.22 model in the official ns-3 release. I am not sure if there is any ongoing development effort with this respect.

Hi I want to create cognitive radio in ns3. There is no support for cognitive radio in ns3. I need to develop modules for supporting cognitive radio. I have seen how to create module and info is not sufficient for me. what are the things I should remember/consider while implementing and also what modules should I extend or modify?

Thanks
ponraj

Hi Ponraj,

I'm currently working on developing a MAC protocol for cognitive radio networks and simulate it using ns3 but couldn't find anything related to it. Please guide me through as you had done relevant work in the past.

Thanks for your reply
I have some other doubts regarding my work. It will be helpful if people can guide me to the following problems

is it possible to sense microwave signals in ns3? I know we can generate the microwave signals(TV signals).
If it is possible can sensors sense the medium without relocating the frequency that we are using it currently for transmission?
please help

Regards
ponraj

It is possible in the sense that you can implement a signal detector for this purpose.

Hi Latha,

This is a NS-3 mailing list. Please ask your questions in the NS-2 list.

Dear Nicola,

Can you please help me out regarding my educational research thesis " An Interference Aware Spectrum Access in Constant Power Cognitive Radio Body Area Network (CRBAN)"  i am gonna use NS3 for simulations. channels will be weighted according to their previous activities and maintained accordingly for saving energy for wireless sensors.

Regards,
Muhammad Tauqir

Hi,
I am planning to work on MAC protocol for cognitive radio sensor network in NS3. Can you please suggest the best way for the simulation. CogNS and CRCN is what i had planned previously for my work. but I am ot sure about this also.
