Hi,

I'm interested in simulating wifi network scenarios with building and obstacles (both indoor and outdoor).

And I found the the buildings propagation loss model might be interesting:

This model provides means for simulating the following propagation phenomena in the presence of buildings:
  • shadowing (indoor, outdoor)
  • external wall penetration loss
  • internal wall penetration loss
The distance-dependent component of propagation loss is deferred to derived classes which are expected to implement the GetLoss method.

However, I didn't find any reference (academic papers, standard document, etc...) for this model, to understand its applicability like frequency, distance, assumptions, etc...

Anyone can provide some reference of this model? Thanks in advance.

regards

Jiazi

Ah, the document is actually in "Buildings Module":

Some references are available there...

Hmm... but still, there is no reference for the "Internal walls loss", and how to set the "penetration loss constant" L_siw...

Dear Jiazi,

This class is an abstract one. You can see the inherited classes (HybridBuildingPropagationLoss and OhBuildingPropagatiolLoss)
In both of them you can see links/references to the corresponding models, such as the Okumura Hata, the ITUR P1411, COST231 etc.
For more information, see the documentation https://www.nsnam.org/docs/models/html/buildings-design.html

Regards,
K.
