Hello everyone,

I am confused with the content of the Dl and Ul Pdcp Stats which are generated in LTE module.

Could someone pls explain the definition of the Tx and Rx bytes in Downlink, as well the Tx and Rx bytes in Uplink?
I read the documentation but I am not sure it made that more clear to me.

Thanks a lot in advance!
Sokratis

Hi Sokratis,

The Tx and Rx bytes (columns 8 and 10) in the PDCPStats files refer to the total number of Tx/Rx bytes that are sent/received within the interval [start, end].

For example, if start = 0, end = 0.25,  nTxPDU = 11, txBytes = 1078, then this means that within a 250 ms interval, a total of 11 PDCP PDU comprising a total of 1078 bytes (or an average of 98 bytes per PDCP PDU) were sent.

Thank you Vikram for your response.
However I didn't make myself clear in the first question I think. My mistake.

I know that Tx Bytes are the sent ones and Rx the received. But this doesn't mean that the uplink should only show the Tx bytes, and the downlink the Rx?

I don't get very well the Rx bytes (PDUs) in the uplink, and the Tx in the downlink respectively.

Thanks
Sokratis

Hi Sokratis,

I believe both tx bytes and rx bytes are shown in both UL and DL PDCP statistics files.

Let me show you an example from a Downlink PDCP statistics file:
% start end CellId IMSI RNTI LCID nTxPDUs TxBytes nRxPDUs RxBytes
0 0.25 1 1 58 4 10 980 9 882

Above trace means that between t = 0 and t = 0.25, a total of 10 TX PDU were sent and 9 RX PDU were received. note that the trace here collects information from both TX (eNB for DL, UE for UL) and RX (UE for DL, eNB for UL).

Makes sense?

It absolutely makes sense.
The confusion was created to me as I thought the stats were only referring to the UE and the eNB was not involved at all.

Thank you very much once more Vikram
