VANET+Vidoe Stream + EvalVid

Hi everyone

  I'm trying to test the performance of a video streaming transmission over a vanet, like PSNR, frame loss etc., i was searching for information here on ns3 groups but there is a little outdated, so i decided to open this topic.

  1. I skimmed the EvalVid-ns3 source code and especially its example code: evalvid-client-server.cc. Find it supported one server to one client, but in VANETs may one server to multi-clients, so can I use EvalVidServer and EvalVidClient to transmit video streaming?

  2. In the vanet-routing-compare.cc, it use OnOffApplication to transmit data traffic, so can  I use it to  transmit video stream like EvalVid, if it can how should I do that?

Can someone give me some advice or literature about this topic.

Hi,

1) I have not used Evalvid and I do not know it's limitations (particularly for the statistics calculations).

I would assume that you could do broadcast/multicast with it, simply because it used UDP sockets. But calculating PSNR, frame-loss etc for broadcast/multicast might require some thought.

See for example how the BSM-stats are calculated (which are broadcast).

2) You can use the Evalvid client/server in that example by replacing the OnOffApplication/PacketSink.
