how to install ns3 in ubuntu 12.04

il suffit de d'abord de de(ziper) :) le placer dans votre répertoire de travail , et puis a l'aide du terminal vous entrez dans le répertoire(avec cd) ns(tout dépend de la version que vous voulez installer) et vous faite ./build.py ça devrais marcher

I follow the instalation guide found on the website of ns3 (http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/Installation) but I found a problem when ordering

sudo apt-get install g+ + -3.4 gcc-3.4

Hi Salima;

I think the error message that you encounter is related with repository. The g++ 3.4 is not found 

in the package repository.If you follow the  web site instruction the ns3 is installed properly. 

I just install and  use with eclipse in my Ubuntu now.

I have diffrent problem.
I'm following http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/Installation#Linux those guidlines. Problem comse after "sudo apt-get install python-sphinx dia" step.
I've checked and my Sphinx is v1.1.3

So I went: http://sphinxsearch.com/downloads/release/ here and grabbed source tarball, then followed instructions, unpacking,
./configure
make
make install

After some problems with MySQL all finally worked well. Istnallation successfull. Unfortunately "sphinx-build" still shows 1.1.3
Can anyone help me?

I also tried to follow next steps, but final one "sudo apt-get install openmpi*" also reports problems about "some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are unstable distribution (...) (not possible it's stable 10.04)" - should I worry about that?

Finally what would you suggest as easiest, most idiot-proof method of installing ns3? I'm going to use it mostly for wireless simulations (QoS in 802.11), nothing really extreme.

I suggest you make update to your linux packages : 

#apt-get update

then try to install NS3

still "sphinx-build" says its v1.1.3

It seems that NS3 works despite that (http://www.nsnam.org/wiki/index.php/Installation#Linux says it should be 1.12+). But I'm afraid this problem will come back and bite me later on.
