Hi all,
I'm just wondering if anybody has tried to install NetAnim  on Windows? Any steps to follow?

Thanks in advance.

here is a thread discussing it
you need the qt5 compatible edition of NetAnim and also install qt5 for vs-2012

Hi John,
Thanks for your quick response.
I do have ns3 running on a different machine and what I need is to be able to use NetAnim in my windows machine.
and from what I understood I need the following to be installed on my machine before running NetAnim
  1. mercurial  ---> from where can I get this?
  2. Qt Creator  ---> can I get it from http://qt-project.org/downloads?  which file do I need to download?
  3. Microsoft Visual C++ (Visual Studio 2010 and over http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/products/visual-studio-express-products) or MinGw compiler  ---> I do have Visual Studio 2010. is that enough?
I would really appreciate your feedback on the above.
Thanks.

lot depends on whether you are using
1. ns-3 on cygwin or
2. ns-3 on Visual Studio

Hi John,
ns-3 is already installed on a Linux machine which I use to run my simulations.
However, I want to be  able to view the results (thru the generated xml file) on my Win laptop using NetAnim and I'm just wondering if this is possible in my case?

Thanks.

the reason I ask is that
1. ns-3 on Windows Native requires Visual Studio 2012.

But you have Visual Studio 2010.
along with Qt Creator.

And if it does not compile let me know.

I have downloaded the following:
1- NetAnim 3.0
3- Qt Creator.
I tried to double click and open the NetAnim.pro in Qt Creator and I got the attached screen shot!!
Am I missing anything??

Hi John,
I was able to build and run NetAnim.
However when I tried to test the generated xml file I got the attached error message!!
Do I need to set the debugger in Qt?? I just left that empty!

Please rebuild it in Release mode not in "Debug" mode

How can I do that?
I have attached all the settings from Qt.
I feel I'm missing something out there??

Thanks a lot for your patient and cooperation.
