Hello

I have been working with ns-3 testing WiFi and WiMAX long distance links. We have decide upload them here https://github.com/emunicio/long-distance-tucan3g in case any is interested in perform these kind of simulations. The idea was to make easy to people do it by using and changing these scripts for their own purposes. Scripts give throughput, latency, jitter and losses values for different configurations in long distance links.

Aditinoally, there are some patches which are necessary to apply in order to get the scripts run properly. Regarding WiFi module, only smalls changes are made for enabling MCS8-MCS15. In general, the WiFi module works great and ns-3 is a great tool to test the performance of WiFi long distance links.

Regarding to WiMAX, some bugs such as

https://www.nsnam.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1790
https://www.nsnam.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2095
https://www.nsnam.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1356

Some of these bugs are also commented here:

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!searchin/ns-3-users/wimax|sort:date/ns-3-users/8ZA7UZOpEG0/K9gq-IPjSPMJ

In the WiMAX patch given, some of them are solved, however the WiMAX module remains with important bugs unsolved. However for basic test it is usable and maybe the code uploaded can result helpful to someone who wants to work with WiMAX.

I hope any find it interesting or usable

Kind regards

Hi Steve,

thank you very much for the patches and the repository.

If I can ask, it would be great if you could upload the appropriate patches to Bugzilla ?
Moreover, I'd suggest to stress in the repository read files that, after the patches, the Wi-Fi part is not anymore strictly standard. Otherwise someone could be confused.
Last but not least, I know that probably it's outside of the scope of your project, but it would be a good idea to check your results against the latest ns-3. This because recently the Wi-Fi module got some bugs removed and sone features added.

Cheers,

T.

I have check the scripts and remade the patches with new version all seems ok. I attach a small test with MCS0 and MCS3 for both ns-3.18 and ns3-22.

The results from ns-3.18 are checked with the bianchi model, so it seems ns-3.22 is as precise as ns-3.18. I have already updated the github repository with newest version.
Thank you for the comments

Kind regards,

Esteban
