Hello everyone,
I'm currently conducting research on positioning accuracy in 5G using NS-3.42 . I'm wondering whether it's possible to perform the entire study within NS-3 alone, or if I need to extract the simulation data and use an external tool like MATLAB to calculate metrics such as TOA/TDOA or AOA.
Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Are you referring to PRS? The current ns-3 and 5G-LENA can't simulate that, but it would be possible if you implemented a routine similar to the MATLAB sample.
Of course it would be difficult, but it's very interesting to research the relation of the accuracy and the scheduling period of PRS.

ns-3 has rich support for mobility models. If you understand the mobility models of ns-3, then you can easily write code in ns-3 itself to resolve TOA/TDOA or AOA. There is no need to use any other tool/software to do this.

Charles,
