Hello,

I am new to ns3 and I am getting familiar with the NetAnim environment.
When I run the wireless-animation.cc example unmodified, wireless packets do not appear in NetAnim. Wireless nodes move and packets between nodes 20, 21 and 22 (AP and CSMA nodes) are shown both on the animator and the packets tab but there is nothing about the packets sent/received by the wireless nodes. However, these nodes do send and receive packets in the ns3 simulation.
I am running ns-3.21 and netanim-3.105.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you John Abraham,

I am able to get the result you show in the first two screenshots but not the other ones. Do they belong to the same execution? Should I do something different to show wireless packets?
I have also tried to simulate the wifi-adhoc-grid.cc and no packets are shown either. I have no troubles with wired connections though.

in the packets tab can you set the from time and to time to the value I set and click "submit" and post the screenshot.
also note the simulation time and slow it down at that point

so when I set it to pause at 3.02275 like in the screenshot below and step-through the simulation packet by packet, by clicking the red double-arrow I can pause at the point UDP is exchanged

I have tried both running the simulation and stepping through it and I haven't obatained any result. It looks like these packets do not exist

I get the same result for the line count:

fatima@fatima-T:~/NS-3/source/ns-3.21$ wc -l wireless-animation.xml
29765 wireless-animation.xml

I have reinstalled ns3 and netanim but the result is the same.
Is there maybe a NetAnim configuration issue I should take into account?

not sure if it is a mismatched version here
can you try

cd netanim

qmake-qt4 NetAnim.pro (or qmake NetAnim.pro)
make
./NetAnim

Thank you!!

It does work now. I was using netanim version that was downloaded together with ns-3.

This Net-anim version mismatch issue was there for me as well. The discussion was quite helpful. Alhamdulillah.
