Hi all,

I wonder why bridging is not supported in adhoc mode in 802.11 standard? The IEEE document states "802.11 ad hoc mode is not to be used; all stations and access points operate in infrastructure mode." Also, ns-3's bridge net device documentation states: "Bridging is designed to work only with NetDevices modelling IEEE 802-style technologies, such as CsmaNetDevice and WifiNetDevice.
If including a WifiNetDevice in a bridge, the wifi device must be in Access Point mode. Adhoc mode is not supported with bridging."

Can someone tell why?
