Has anyone done work with over 1000 wireless nodes and simulations of traffic which span minutes or hours? How If so, how can I best set-up and optimize these types of simulations under NS3? What sort of throughput can I expect, and if I double the number of nodes, does it take 2x, 4x, 6x, or what-x additional overhead? Thanks in advance!

I am not aware of any such benchmarking; it depends on the wireless technology (LTE or Wi-Fi) and how many nodes are on the same wireless channel. If on different channels, there may be opportunities to parallelize.
